Sandro surrogate almost placed on a 52-minute goal for the man of the moment Gareth Bale, whose header play was cleared behind by Jagielka despite being just off target.

This was moments after Seamus Coleman became the first player Everton reserved to overthrow Aaron Lennon as Tottenham broke.

Crouch diverted nearly a John Heitinga free for your own goal before the visitors were forced to bring out a Louis Saha Yakubu hobbling just on time.

The fit-again Steven Pienaar high a wide cut of 25 meters, but he wasn't happening for both sides and Spurs have decided to introduce Roman Pavlyuchenko for Lennon 69 minutes.

Bale moved right and he and Sandro immediately established Crouch to weak Howard, an effort with Cahill just off target with a snapshot at the other end.
