New England Soccer News honors Huskies GK Ford

Photo courtesy UConn Sports Information. University of Connecticut senior goalie Josh Ford was named New England Soccer News Men's College player of the year. He is also among the finalists for the Soccer Player of the year national News Network, which will be announced on January 6.

Ford is the second Husky to be honored as Grand Orient goalkeeper of the year. He started all 17 UConn s regular season games, allowing only five goals in more than 1550 minutes for g.a.a lowest in nation, 0.29. He made 52 saves to a no.912 save percentage, also the nation's best. Nine of its 11 regular season WINS were shutouts. In the championship game, led the Grand Orient in goals-against average (0.21) and save percentage (938).


Ford finished the season with 13 shutouts and closed his career UConn as leader of all times Huskies in shutouts (50), Victoria (54) and consecutive starts (85).


Ford is participating in Major League Soccer match and will be eligible for selection in next week's MLS SuperDraft.
