Football-Roundup-Barca equal record, big pay day for Crawley

Barcelona made a wins record 15th league match in a row and stretched seven points clear of Real Madrid, losing 1-0 to Rangers.


In England, Club minor league Crawley Town secured a payday bumper, when his reward for success in FA Cup was the fifth round draw away against Manchester United.

Leaders Barcelona pulled seven points clear at the top of La Liga with a 3-0 victory in Hercules on Saturday and Real Madrid crashed to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Manchester United on Sunday.


Peter broke the deadlock for Barça and Lionel Messi scored twice late on after Hercules had been reduced to 10 men. Consecutive League victory 15 matching the record League established by Real Madrid in 1960-61 season.


Real fell to a goal of the second part of Javier Camanus and entry of new signing Emmanuel Adebayor failed help transform the game.


Barca has 58 points in 21 games, Real are in second place with 51 and Villarreal are third with 45 once a cracker Giuseppe Rossi gave them a 1-0 win at Espanyol.

Crawley town became the first minor League club to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup for 17 years when they beat League Two (Fourth Division) Torquay 1-0 away and then a dream trip to play Manchester United at Old Trafford in the round.


A weakened side United in the field and had to come from behind to win 2-1 in Southampton, while Arsenal also had to battle back with a penalty of Cesc Fabregas border League One (third tier) Huddersfield 2-1.


Manchester City were 10 minutes of a humiliating defeat in the League a Notts County but won a replay with new striker Edin Dzeko first goal for the Club.


Holders Chelsea also came from behind to draw 1-1 at Everton into one of five all-Premier League ties.


The most surprising of them, Tottenham Hotspur, semi-finalists last season, were punished for their 4-0 at the Fulham with all targets, including two penalties, arriving in the first half.
